Open Theme

Juror Sara Ickow, Associate Director of Exhibitions, International Center of Photography, will consider all types of photography-based work for this annual survey exhibition of contemporary photography. The open theme allows for the widest understanding of the medium and current photography practices. All interpretations of photography will be accepted.

Media Preparation

• You may submit up to a total of five images. Videos will not be accepted.
• Save your images in JPEG format, sized at 1000 pixels on the longest side.
• Image files must be titled with the artist's last and first names and the image number. Example: Smith_Mary_1.jpg

Important Dates

• January 7th—Call Closes
• End of January—Accepted Artists Notified
• February 27th—Work Due to Filter Space
• March 6th—Opening Reception
   

The cost to submit to Context 2026 is $35.00 for up to five entries. Please note that accepted artists are responsible for the cost of shipping work to and from Filter Space—located at 1821 W Hubbard St, Suite 207, Chicago, IL 60622. All work is required to be framed unless an alternative presentation is required. Full details will be included in the accepted artists' contracts.
